Amsterdam is a city where cultures meet, and that’s exactly what happened when Lucas Santana (Brazil) ran into the classical music department at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2015.
Combining a jazz group and a string quartet was the challenge to be overcome.
This group explores the big palette of colors that the classic music can offer, but also with elements of Jazz, such as improvisation and modern harmonies. All of this applied to enhance Brazilian traditional music and some original tunes by Lucas himself.
The idea to connect Brazilian music and classical tradition isn’t something new. What makes this idea look fresh it’s to connect people who love and have the same interest in spreading love and musicality throughout these two genres.
